Our mission

GraceDNS exists to help families and ministries browse the internet with confidence.

We believe safe internet access should be available to everyone. GraceDNS offers a free, privacy-aware filter that blocks harmful content at the DNS layer and helps create cleaner digital spaces for homes, churches, schools, and Christian organizations.

Biblical Foundation

Our guiding principle

GraceDNS is built on the conviction that technology can be a practical tool for stewardship and protection. While no filter is perfect, a strong DNS boundary helps families and ministries honor their calling to guard what their eyes and hearts allow in.

"Cause my eyes to turn away from looking at worthlessness, And revive me in Your ways."

Psalm 119:37 (LSB)

Sustainably Free

No ads. No tracking. Ever.

GraceDNS is funded exclusively from crowd support. We believe that Everyone deserves a clean internet. If we provide a useful service to those you care about, and you are able, we kindly ask for your financial support.

We Don't Track You

We never record what you search for, which websites you visit, or where you're connecting from. Period.

We Ask the Root Servers

Instead of asking another company to look up websites for us, we ask the root servers directly. This means no single company sees your complete traffic history.

Always Free

Core filtering is completely free for everyone. No ads, no tracking, no hidden upgrades.

FAQ

Common questions

What exactly does GraceDNS block?

GraceDNS blocks explicit and adult content, known malware domains, gambling and betting sites, unsafe search bypass domains, trackers, telemetry, and short-lived malicious domains using community and proprietary blocklists.

Will this slow down my internet?

No. By blocking ads, trackers, and unwanted content at the DNS level, less data is downloaded and rendered by your device, which often results in a faster browsing experience.

Do you track or log my browsing history?

No. GraceDNS is built on a strict no-logs philosophy. We do not record source IP addresses, requested queries, or browsing history.

Can I whitelist specific domains?

Because GraceDNS is a public DNS filter endpoint, we do not offer personalized whitelisting. Our service is designed to be standardized and plug-and-play for everyone.

Does GraceDNS work on mobile devices?

Yes. Protect mobile devices by configuring your home router or by manually setting DNS on the device. iOS, Android, and desktop systems are supported.

How is this service completely free?

GraceDNS is sustained through voluntary contributions and sponsorships so families, churches, and ministries can access a safe DNS filter without a paywall.

Do you throttle DNS queries?

Yes, to ensure our service remains fast and available for everyone, we use dynamic query limiting. Rather than a strict hard cutoff, our system uses a sliding scale that automatically adjusts based on connection behavior to organically mitigate abuse, such as DNS reflection attacks. While the exact thresholds are kept private, they are highly generous and easily accommodate individuals, families, small businesses, and most schools.

How can larger schools or enterprises request a limit increase?

If you represent a larger organization that may organically exceed our standard thresholds, please send an email to support@gracedns.org. We will gladly add your organization's IPv4 and/or IPv6 CIDR to our whitelist, granting effectively unlimited access.
